Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn provided fans with one of the greatest fights to ever take place on British soil last month.

The domestic rivals locked horns at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, over two and a half years after they were originally due to face each other in October 2022.

After an exhilarating twelve round battle, Eubank was declared the winner via unanimous decision with all three of the judges scoring the contest 116-112.

A rematch between the pair is contracted and now expected to take place before the end of the year, with Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh already announcing September as the target date for the highly anticipated second encounter.

In an interview with Seconds Out, former WBO light-middleweight champion Liam Smith, who remains the only fighter to defeat Eubank via stoppage, has weighed in on a potential rematch between his former rival and Benn.

“Yeah I would like to see the rematch. I think if Chris has a fight with Conor it’ll end up a good fight [again.] But I think Conor’s got even more of a chance next time around, cause like I said I think Chris is one or two fights from being done. His balance has gone a little bit.”

Smith was then asked who he is backing in the rematch.

“Probably Chris, size-wise he’s too big for him, wasn’t he? When he wanted to be I think he was too big for him.”

An official announcement is expected to be made in the coming weeks, with both fighters already expressing their interest in doing battle once again. However, there remains other options for both men should things play out that way.
