Former Heavyweight World Champion Posts Training Footage Ahead Of Comeback And Fans Are Impressed

A former unified world heavyweight champion appears to be on the verge of making a comeback to the sport after sharing training footage online.

The landscape of the heavyweight division has changed dramatically over the last five years although Ukrainian icon Oleksandr Usyk has proved himself to be arguably the greatest fighter of his generation, achieving undisputed status for the second time with a victory over Daniel Dubois last month.

Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel are both in line to face Usyk next, although it remains to be seen whether the Ukrainian superstar will stick around to face the highly-ranked contenders or actually go on to vacate his heavyweight titles and announce his retirement from the sport.

Britain’s Moses Itauma has also established himself as the brightest prospect in the sport over the last 12 to 18 months, racking up the best win of his career to date earlier this month when he stopped fellow countryman Dillian Whyte in the opening round of their clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Another fighter that could be one big win away from pushing towards a world title shot is Andy Ruiz, who previously held the unified WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles when he stopped Anthony Joshua in one of the sport’s biggest upsets back in 2019.

It appears Ruiz is currently preparing for his long-awaited return to the ring after he shared some impressive training footage on social media.

Fans were seemingly impressed with what they saw from Ruiz, with one commenting “He is my sleeper pick to win another title. If he trains, he wins.” While another posted “Damn, that left hook. Guy is a machine.”

The 35-year-old from California has not fought since last August when he fought to a majority decision draw against Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller in Los Angeles, suffering a hand injury that has kept him out of action until the last few weeks.
