Moses Itauma has become one of the most talked-about heavyweights on the planet in a short space of time.

The 20-year sensation has quickly risen through the ranks thanks in large part to his KO power. He has stopped 11 of the 13 men he has beaten, nine of them within just two rounds. This includes Dillian Whyte, last time out, who he sent to the canvas within the first two minutes to carry on his fine run.

Right now, he is being linked with all sorts of fights, including two-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk, but also Jermaine Franklin, who is best known in the UK for losing to Whyte and Anthony Joshua.

Franklin returned to action on Saturday against Ivan Dychko, winning a decision. Speaking to BoxNation pre-fight, the American was asked about Itauma.

“I’m kind of laser-focused. I don’t know too much about Moses. I think he got nice hand speed, he’s aggressive, but he’s a young guy, but we all like that in the beginning. Fighting someone like Usyk, I think that’s maybe too high calibre for him but if he think he can take the challenge, then that’s what he think.”

When asked about rumours he could be next for Itauma, Franklin took offence at the suggestion he would be used as ‘a test’ on the way to bigger fights.

“Right now, I’m not thinking about it. I’m focused on what’s in front of me, but right now I’ll let you know, I’m far from a test for anybody. So if you want to get f**ked up you can bring it.”

When asked outright if he would take the fight, he remained open.

“If the money’s right, we can talk about it.”

Itauma seems most likely to return in December with promoter Frank Warren hinting that Fillip Hrgovic has turned down an offer to face the youngster.
