A former victim of Anthony Joshua has given Jake Paul some advice ahead of their controversial clash later in December.

Paul, 28, is scheduled to face former unified world champion Joshua, 36, in a fight broadcast by Netflix that has split the boxing world.

Many think it is an obviously easy way to make money for Joshua, while others decry it as unsafe, given the differences in size, skills and experience.

Joshua has not fought since his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024. Paul was last out in June with a victory over former middleweight world champion Julio César Chávez Jr, which was contested at the 200lb cruiserweight limit.

Paul has competed at heavyweight once before when he weighed 227lb in his win over Mike Tyson, who was 58 at the time, but Joshua will come in much heavier, even though he is subject to a 245lb limit for the eight-round contest.

Ahead of the fight, Kubrat Pulev, who is currently the WBA Regular heavyweight titleholder and previously faced Joshua in 2020, when he lost by a ninth-round KO, has spoken to The Sun about this fight and offered Paul some advice.

“I think this is more show, it’s not a real fight. But, (Paul) can beat him, maybe. Boxing, anything can happen. I can give him advice – just go on the front and be protected. He can have some chance.”

44-year-old Pulev fights Murat Gassiev in Dubai on December 5 and could well take on Moses Itauma next year if he comes through that one.
