Former Mike Tyson Opponent Says Jake Paul Has No Idea What He’s Signed Up For: “When He Lands…”

The final months are now counting down until Mike Tyson and Jake Paul come to blows in the ring in November.

One of the most controversial bouts in recent times and, in terms of age and activity, a real mismatch.

In one corner is the almost 60-year-old Tyson, a former heavyweight champion and much-feared knockout artist who beat his first 18 opponents inside six rounds, though one who has been retired for more than 20 years, has been seen walking with a stick and pulled out of the first fight date with an ulcer issue.

His opponent, YouTuber turned fighter Paul, is vastly inexperienced in the ring having had just nine pro fights and with no amateur background.

He has racked up some straightforward wins, mostly stoppages, against older fighters or mixed martial artists including the likes of Mike Perry, Nate Diaz, Ryan Bourland and Anderson Silva but lost when he stepped in with someone slightly more experienced in Tommy Fury back in 2023. As such, he has never been in with anyone like Tyson.

One man who has is Roy Jones Jr, in an exhibition in 2022, and he still rates ‘Iron Mike’s power highly, as he told the Sugar Shane Show.

“Mike Tyson still the strongest puncher that I’ve ever been in the ring with. Ever. At 55 at the time, now I think 57 might be 58, he’s still the strongest puncher. First time he hit me in my chin I feel like a mule had kicked me in my chest.”

“The first time he hit anybody with power like that they going out or they going down, especially guys who ain’t used to being hit like that.”

He then foresaw a bad ending for Paul when the fight comes around.

“Jake Paul, I don’t think he’s gonna be able to take Mike hitting him on the chin like that.”

Tyson once declared he would never fight Paul as he respected him and his family too much, but that is now in the past and the fight is all set to take place on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas live on Netflix.
