Frank Bruno has had his say on the eagerly awaited contest between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
Fury has been retired since January, just weeks after he took his second consecutive loss to generational great Oleksandr Usyk. The hope had been that he and Joshua, at that stage both beaten and with few other places to turn, might come together for an epic all-British showdown that fans have always dreamt of.
However, as of yet, that has not transpired and Fury has continued to speak about being happy in retirement until yesterday when he announced he wanted to trilogy fight with Usyk next year.
Joshua has not fought since he lost by KO to Daniel Dubois last September, but has always said he would be keen to take on Fury.
Speaking to iFL TV, Bruno reckoned that once serious offers are made, both men will jump at the chance to fight.
“Money talks and bu****it always walks man, know what I mean, so don’t underestimate those things. When the money’s on the table, they will jump on it like flies, and it should be a good fight when they get together.”
He was then asked for his prediction and sided with ‘AJ’, despite just months ago backing Fury to win.
“I would edge to Joshua, you know what I mean, cause I think Tyson Fury has seen better days. Joshua is still younger, hungrier, and wants to prove himself, you know, so he’s got that fight in him and he will do a good job on him I think.”
Joshua is currently recovering from an elbow injury and looking to get back in action before the year is out, and has been linked with the likes of Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder.
