Frank Bruno Answered Honestly When Asked If Moses Itauma Is As Good As Mike Tyson Was

Frank Bruno shared the ring with Mike Tyson, so he is well placed to compare him to breakout heavyweight Moses Itauma.

Itauma is one of the hottest prospects in world boxing right now. He is just 20 years old and long ago he set his sights on beating ‘Iron Mike’s record of being the youngest ever heavyweight world champion at the age of 20. Although that is now not going to happen, he has put together a similarly impressive strong of KOS, with 11 in all from his 13 fights, and nine of them inside the first two rounds.

Last time out was his best win to date when he stopped Dillain Whyte in the first two minutes, having already knocked him down once before that.

Later this month in Manchester, he takes on a tough American in Jermaine Franklin, who has already managed to take both Anthony Joshua and Whyte the full 12-round distance, so could provide a different type of test for Itauma.

Speaking to Clubhouse Boxing, Bruno was asked to compare Itauma and Tyson at the same age.

“Mike Tyson was a dangerous guy, Moses is very, very good, he’s young, he’s fresh and whatever, but you look at Tyson when he was 21 he won the belt. That proves it itself. It’s just that ge got caught up with some wrong people.”

British legend Bruno twice fought Tyson, first for a world title in 1989, which he lost inside five rounds, then again in defence of his world title in his final ever fight in 1995 – a third round defeat.
