Frank Bruno takes on the Queen with alternative Christmas message

Former heavyweight champion of the world Frank Bruno MBE has taken on some formidable opponents in his time, such as Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson (twice). It is doubtful however he has ever ever met a rival with the regal grace of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Old queenie will bang out her traditional Christmas message at 3pm tomorrow - take note, Mr Corbyn - but Bruno will provide an

, premiering at the same time on Christmas Day (you can leave comments on the Watch page now). It will cover familiar themes for the intelligent and caring ex-boxer, including youth engagement and knife crime.

Bruno once translated his sporting fame into the festive genre of pantomime but is now keen to use his platform for something far more serious.

 

We do not expect to reach the 10 per cent of the UK population Liz manages to attract, but if we are able to influence even a few conflicted kids then it is well worth the effort.
