Daniel Dubois and his team are set to make a decision on who he will defend his IBF belt against next.

The British heavyweight is one of the most in form men in world boxing. His last three fights have been highly competitive on paper and he has come out on top each time, wining all by stoppage.

First was Jarrell Miller just under a year ago out in Saudi Arabia, then came Fillip Hrgovic in the same country in June on the 5 v 5 Matchroom v Queensbury card, after which he was elevated to IBF champion. Most recently in September he halted Anthony Joshua inside five rounds in his first defence of the belt.

Joshua had initially spoken of wanting an immediate rematch with his compatriot but his promoter Edie Hearn has since claimed has a few niggling injuries may mean he is not ready to fight again as soon as February, which is when ‘Dynamite’ Dubois intends to return to action.

Speaking to BoxNation, promoter Frank Warren was asked about reports that Dubois’ next defence will come against Fabio Wardley, who recently stopped Frazer Clarke inside the first round of their British and Commonwealth title clash.

“I don’t see that happening next. I think Fabio, Fabio would fight anybody, he’s a fighting man, he comes from an unlicensed background, you’ve seen what he’s all about, he gives everything and he goes to fight. For me, that fight could be built into something mega.”

It was put to him that Joseph Parker has also put himself in the frame.

“I like most of the fights out there and that’s one of them, but we’ll see, we’re not going to be rushed into any of them. It’s got to be something that suits everybody involved, and more importantly, suits Daniel.”

Parker is another form man in the division having beaten Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang in the last 12 months. He is perhaps the most deserving challenger. News is expected soon on what route Dubois will take.
