Frank Warren has promoted Tyson Fury for some of the best years of his career and has now spoken about ‘The Gypsy King’s retirement.

Fury revealed in a social media post at the start of January that he was hanging up his gloves and leaving the sport behind. If it is to be the end, he has had a superb run that took him to the very top of the sport and made him one of the most popular sportsmen of his time.

He has won belts at every major level including British, Commonwealth and European before then snatching world honours away from Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 when the pair fought in Germany.

After time away from the sport, Fury returned to first draw with Deontay Wilder but then twice knocked out the fearsome American puncher to gain and retain the WBC belt.

After further wins against the likes of Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora and a close points victory over Francis Ngannou, he took on Oleksandr Usyk for undisputed honours back in May. Fury fell short after a close 12-rounds but took an immediate rematch back in December.

That one also went the way of the Ukrainian and left Fury with back-to-back defeats which ultimately led to the retirement announcement.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Warren gave his view on the retirement.

“Whatever he’s gonna do he’s gonna do. He’s retired. That’s the end of it. People can debate it and have their opinions but the only opinion that matters is Tyson’s.”

With Fury having come out of retirement twice before, Warren was asked if he believes Fury might change his mind again.

“At this moment in time I don’t expect him to come back. If he doesn’t want to come back he’s content and happy with his life, and if he’s happy, I’m happy.”

Despite this, some in the sport are hoping that Fury will change his mind and come back for one more epic showdown with long-time British rival Anthony Joshua.
