The boxing world was shocked when Conor Benn announced he was leaving his long-time promoter Eddie Hearn, and now Carl Froch has weighed in.

Fighters change promotional stables all the time, with Ben Shalom’s Boxxer, Frank Warren’s Quensberry and Hearn’s Matchroom all competing to sign up the best talents n the sport.

However, Hearn had shown particular loyalty to Benn during two dark years when he was banned from boxing in the UK for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

He backed him publicly, got him a couple of fights out in the US and loaned him money before then securing two huge fights with Chris Eubank Jr, which no doubt earned him generational wealth.

Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Froch reacted to Benn revealing that he has signed with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing for a one-fight deal.

He’s a good signing, he’s done what he had to do for him and his family as he said, the old Bunsen burner. The big dollar, and I’m sure Eddie Hearn will get over it. He can cry himself to sleep in his gold-plated mansion and the massive amounts of value that Matchroom has.

“I know it’s a bit of a kick in the stones. It’s a bit of an ego whooping but he’s going to have to move on with it because I don’t think he’s going to change. Conor Benn has made up his mind. I don’t think this is a one fight deal, I think he’s gone, and he’s gone for good. And good luck to him.”

Benn is now chasing world titles at welterweight, with newly crowned Ryan Garcia and Rolly Romero both in his sights for 2026.
