Carl Froch knows what it takes to become a world champion and has named the next Brit he thinks will reach the very top.

The former British super-middleweight world champion held multiple world titles, including the WBC, IBF, and WBA super-middleweight belts after defeating the likes of Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, Lucian Bute, and George Groves in their high-profile Wembley rematch before he retired.

At one point less than a decade ago, Britain had 13 male boxing world champions but currently has just Nick Ball at featherweight and Lewis Crocker at welterweight.

Speaking on his own The Froch on Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ was asked about the future of British boxing and which fighters might go on to be stars.

“There’s a few that stand out, Hamzah Sheeraz, I was talking to him last week, Moses Itauma, the heavyweight.”

Froch then named the one man he thinks will be the next belt holder from these shores.

“Adam Azim, we’ve talked about him. Azim, I think he will be world champion soon, he had a good win last time out.”

Azim, who was named the British Boxing Board of Control 2024 Young Boxer of the Year in 2024, has had 13 fights since turning pro in December 2020 and has won all of them, with 10 coming by way of knockout.

He beat Ohara Davis inside eight rounds in his 12th fight, and last time out in February, he stopped Sergey Lipinets in the eighth round at the Copper Box Arena.

He has recently signed a new deal with Ben Shalom’s Boxxer and is next out on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr vs. Conor Benn II on 15 November against Russian Zaur Abdullaev, who has a record of 20 and 2, with 12 KOs.
