Carl Froch has had his say on whether Tyson Fury should be chasing a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury has not fought since December 2024, when he was soundly beaten across 12 rounds when he fought Usyk for a second time. That was just months after the pair first fought in May 2024 for the undisputed title and Usyk edged a points decision, having earned a count against Fury in round nine.
‘The Gypsy King’ was retired and out of the ring for all of 2025 but is now back in earnest and in camp for his comeback fight with Arslanbek Makmudov in April ahead of what he hopes will be bigger fights down the line, including a third match with the Ukrainian great, which he has long talked about.
Speaking to DAZN Boxing, former super-middleweight king Froch mused on Fury’s chances against Usyk.
“He’s full of confidence, full of self belief, and he likes to win. He’s lost twice to the same guy, he’s telling everyone it was close and he should have won and he got robbed. I don’t think he can beat Usyk, I think he should swerve that. See how he looks against Makmuhdov, then see what opens up.”
He then goes on to suggest what Fury should be targeting instead.
“Dubois, Wardley, winnable fights for him. The ‘AJ’ fight for me in terms of selling a fight and getting people excited, that’s the big one, that’s probably what he’s looking at.”
Right now, Joshua is taking time out to get over the tragic loss of his two close friends in a car accident in Nigeria, but that is the one fight fans are most eager to see if he does return to boxing.
