Carl Froch has weighed in on Tyson Fury‘s comeback fight with Arslanbek Makmuhdov.

Fury has made several comebacks before in his long career, and this was the latest. After more than 16 months out of the ring, he took on an imposing heavyweight but ‘The Gypsy King’ looked fairly sharp throughout.

He boxed well with his trademark footwork, good defence, and plenty of solid combinations across a busy 12 rounds and secured a wide points win at the end of it. It was his first fight since December 2024, when he was beaten by the same result by Oleksandr Usyk.

Speaking on his own channel, former super-middleweight world champion Froch had praise for Fury’s performance.

“Tyson Fury against Makmuhdov was the talk of the evening. Tyson just got 12 rounds, at a decent pace, and he looked OK, I was quite impressed. He got some work in, he needed the work.

“He was out of the ring 16 months, and put the jabs together, combinations, footwork. He was making shots miss his whiskers by millimetres. Some of those big right hands that have rendered people unconscious many times in round one were just missing Tyson’s chin.

“He’s still got that judgement of distance and timing. It’s impressive to say he’s been out of the ring so long. But more importantly, fundamentally, he got 12 rounds in the bank and he wants to now tee up a fight with Anton Joshua.”

Fury has made it clear he now hopes to go into a much-anticipated showdown with Anthony Joshua and called him out at the edge of the ring following his win.
