Carl Froch once sparred Chris Eubank Jr. and has now been talking about his future in boxing.

Eubank Jr looked like a shell of himself against Conor Benn in their rematch this past weekend. He was barely able to land a shot in anger and was put down twice by a man who is usually two weight divisions smaller than him.

It was quite the turnaround from the first fight in April, which Eubank managed well and won via a unanimous points decision.

As the dust continues to settle, former world champion Froch has broke down how the fight unfolded whilst talking to The Sun Sport.

“Eubank only had moments of success throughout the fight. Like tiny little bits. He threw a couple of good uppercuts, but any shots he did land had no effect on Conor, so that shows that Eubank didn’t really have the power in the punches.

“He didn’t have any desire or get up and go; he didn’t try anything. Why was that? We didn’t get any explanation. He said he’d been through hell and back, but he never elaborated. He never said he was injured or he had a cold or he had a problem at the weight.

“He didn’t say anything, so he was magnanimous in that sense, but the performance for the magnitude of the event was a real letdown. It was disappointing to say the least. I thought it was humiliating.”

He then delivered his final verdict on Eubank’s future.

“He got outboxed by a guy two divisions lower than him. He no longer belongs in a professional boxing ring in my opinion.”

Eubank suggested in the post-fight press conference he might be game for a trilogy fight, but other than that it is hard to see where he goes next after such a lacklustre performance, while Benn could now go on to hunt down his first world title fight.
