Carl Froch has some strong views on Tyson Fury‘s potential trilogy with Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury fought Usyk twice in 2024. The first time in May was for the undisputed heavyweight championship. Usyk took a split decision win after earning a count against Fury in round nine.
The rematch in December went the same way, though this time Usyk got a unanimous points win and sent Fury, whose only two losses have come against Usyk, into retirement, where he has remained.
However last week he announced he wanted a trilogy fight with Usyk in May 2026.
Speaking in a post on X, former super-middleweight king Froch explained why he thinks Fury is wasting his time.
“I’ve just been reading about him b*tching and moaning about losing to Usyk, talking about he wants a fair shake. He boxed him in the first fight and was lucky not to get chinned end of round nine. The referee basically jumped in and saved him. Then he gets the rematch, and loses again.
“There’s no shame in losing to Oleksandr Usyk, he’s one of the best to do it. But don’t come out now when you’re retired and say you want a fair go, fair judging. You got a fair shake. The judges ruled the correct decision not once but twice, you got beat fair and square. You’re good, but you’re not as good as you think you are.
“You’ve got a foot reach, foot height advantage, and loads of weight. You got beat by the smaller man, he’s a cruiserweight really. He’s done you twice, and he’ll do you for a third time. You should be magnanimous in defeat, you do the sport no favours by moaning about judges and wanting a fair crack of the whip. You got f**king done, get over it and move on.”
Froch isn’t the only man to have passionate views on Fury potentially returning to face Usyk again, with fellow heavyweight Derek Chisora also offering his thoughts.
As for Usyk, he is returning to the ring on Jul 19 for a second undisputed fight, this time in a rematch with Daniel Dubois who he stopped back in August 2023.
