Carl Froch and Anthony Joshua have never seen eye to eye.
They have a low-key, long-running beef that dates back to insults traded about everything from their boxing styles to their relationship with their once shared coach Rob McCracken.
Right now, Joshua has been out of the ring for more than a year since he was knocked down several times and then stopped by Daniel Dubois back in September last year.
After recovering from an elbow injury, he is now set to return to the ring on December 19 when he takes on YouTuber-turned-novice pro Jake Paul in America.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Froch declared that Joshua is taking the epic payday because he knows the end is in sight.
“Is AJ cashing out? I did say a year ago when he got splattered by Daniel Dubious he’s finished now, he won’t get that confidence back. He hasn’t had any confidence, in his head, no belief, for a long time. I don’t think he can get back to world level. There are a couple of new names coming through now, it’s like a changing of the guard.
When Usyk retires, I don’t know what Daniel Dubois will do next but there is a few new heavyweights coming through, Moses Itauma just to mention one, and you wouldn’t put AJ in there with any of these up and comers who can punch hard because I don’t think he has got the chance because the ambition and the desire has gone.
“So ‘AJ’ most definitely is cashing out. And you can’t fault him. He’s going to get a massive pay, maximise his exit route by fighting Fake Paul.”
Only an impressive KO win for Joshua will be a good result for the former unified world champion as he looks to get back to form and potentially take on long-time rival Tyson Fury sometime next year.
