Conor Benn’s fight with Chris Eubank Jr continues to intrigue and now Carl Froch has had his say.

Froch knows what it’s like to be taking on a bitter rival after plenty of heated build-up. His first fight with George Groves turned into exactly that after the young challenger got under the champion’s skin with plenty of mind games ahead of the first bell.

Shortly after the fight started, Froch was floored with a big right hand and later admitted to underestimating Groves. He won the fight by controversial stoppage, then got a much more inclusive victory in the famous rematch at Wembley.

Eubank has already unsettled Benn by smashing an egg in his face at the first press conference as a reference to one of the excuses given for Benn failing a drug test ahead of their first fight in October 2022.

Eubank will also have the size advantage on the night. He has fought has high as super-middleweight against current or former world champions including Groves, James DeGale and Arthur Abraham, and Benn will be coming up two weights to meet him for this contest on April 26th.

Speaking on his own Froch on Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ sided with the bigger more experienced fighter.

“I just think that all the variables, who’s done what, who’s the bigger, stronger man, who’s got the experience at world level, you have to say Chris Eubank Jr.

“He’s performed at a better level and even at a higher weight he belongs at world-level status where Conor Benn has done nothing.

“Yes he banged out Chris Algieri, a former champ, and looked good doing it, but it was a way past his best Chris Algieri. If I’m gunna pick who is my immediate favourite for this fight, I’m gunna pick Chris Eubank Jr.”

Despite all that evidence, there are still plenty who think the youth and spite of Benn will win out.
