Carl Froch knew when the perfect time to end his professional career was.
After more than 10 years in the sport and having been involved in world title fights for over half a decade, Froch hung up his gloves following his epic clash with George Groves at Wembley Stadium in 2014.
That ended in an eight round knockout victory for Froch, but the former super-middleweight king has now had plenty to say about a heavyweight that competed on his undercard at that memorable event.
Anthony Joshua is a two-time heavyweight champion, having claimed victories over the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Dillian Whyte and Kubrat Pulev during his career.
Things have been tough for ‘AJ’ in recent years though, with his latest fight ending in a devastating fifth round knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September.
It’s currently unknown when Joshua will return to the ring, and that has led Froch to reveal on his Froch On Fighting YouTube channel that he believes it may have been the last time that ‘AJ’ steps foot inside a ring.
“He got ironed out bad, it was a bad loss and maybe a career ending loss. We’ve not seen him since, we don’t know if he’s going to come back. He’s talking a good one, or well Eddie [Hearn] is certainly talking a good one for him. My opinion is that Anthony Joshua is finished.”
Joshua is currently recovering from minor elbow surgery, with his promoter Eddie Hearn insisting that the heavyweight will be back in action at some stage.
A fight that still remains continuously linked is a clash with British rival Tyson Fury, though for now Fury remains retired.
