Carl Froch could be tempted to step back into a boxing ring once again.
‘The Cobra’ hasn’t competed since back in 2014, when he knocked out George Groves at Wembley Stadium to retain his unified super-middleweight world titles.
It capped off a remarkable career for the Nottingham man, who was involved in some big fights at 168lbs against the likes of Andre Ward, Mikkel Kessler, Jermain Taylor and Lucian Bute.
While it may be over a decade since Froch last competed, there have been rumours about a return ever since, with that speculation ramping up in recent months after he was called out by former UFC star Darren Till, who has made a fiery entrance into the boxing world.
Till has been competing on Misfits Boxing events, and most recently knocked out fellow former MMA star and UFC champion Luke Rockhold, before the Liverpudlian then confronted Froch at ringside.
Froch is believed to be weighing up a potential bout against Till, and a new post on social media shows that he may be close to making a final decision on if he will return.
Posting on Instagram, Froch shared an image of him in the gym with former long-term trainer Rob McCracken, with the caption ‘The Last Dance.’
It appears to have already gripped the attention of the public, with one fan commenting “he’s coming to get Darren” – while another replied “Oh I can’t wait, go flatten Till.”
If a fight between Froch and Till was to take place, it would certainly be one of the biggest fights in British boxing, despite it bringing together a former world champion who is now approaching 50, and an ex-UFC star who is yet to be tested in the boxing world.
