Carl Froch has some advice for Derek Chisora ahead of the Londoner picking an opponent for his 50th fight.

Chisora is a British boxing legend who has always lived up to his ‘War’ mantra inside and often also outside of the ring.

He is a larger-than-life character and real fan favourite who this past weekend got his latest win. It was an impressive points win over former Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua foe Otto Wallin in what was Chisora’s 49th professional contest.

Over the years, ‘Del Boy’ has taken losses to the likes of Fury, Dillian Whyte, David Haye and Vitali Klitschko, but has beaten Joe Joyce and Kubrat Pulev during this flourish late in his career.

He has long said he wants to get to 50 fights and now the time has come to select an opponent.

Speaking on his own Froch on Fighting, ‘The Cobra’ advised ‘Del Boy’ against taking on his old mate Joshua, which has been mentioned as a possibility.

“AJ, I think that’s a dangerous fight for Derek. If AJ went in with Chisora, AJ throws a good one-two, AJ’s got a left-right, a good right hand.

“AJ is fit for at least six, seven rounds so I don’t think Chisora would get to him enough cause AJ knows how to punch and box and keep out of the way.

“He’s got bags of experience at the top level. If he went in with Chisora it would just be a punchbag night for AJ and Chisora could do without AJ who punches him hard smashing him on the head for even two or three rounds let alone 12 if it went that long.”

The Wallin fight was an official eliminator for the IBF’s number two slot, meaning Chisora is currently the the highest ranked contender for Daniel Dubois’ title, which he puts on the line against Joseph Parker later this month. However, Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba duke it out in May for the number one and mandatory position.

Chisora has previously stated his 50th and final bout would take place on foreign soil, but after his reception in Manchester he has stated he will now consider Wembley Stadium if possible.
