Tyson Fury Finally Confirms Comeback Decision ‘Categorically’

Tyson Fury has been retired since January of this year.

‘The Gypsy King’ is one of boxing’s most charismatic and accomplished heavyweights who first rose to prominence with his 2015 victory over Wladimir Klitschko when he ended the Ukrainian’s decade-long reign and captured the unified heavyweight titles.

After a hiatus battling mental health issues and addiction, Fury made a remarkable comeback and reclaimed world champion status by knocking out the big-punching WBC ruler Deontay Wilder in 2020, then again in the final fight of their trilogy.

Despite his unorthodox movement and ring IQ, he was unable to solve the problem that is Oleksandr Usyk and took his first career loss in April 2024, before then losing again in the rematch in December last year.

That caused him to hang up his gloves, which left fans disappointed with the thought he would never take on fellow Brit Anthony Joshua.

Speaking to DAZN, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren revealed he had spoken to his charge recently for an update on his career.

“I spoke to him last week. He said that he’s going to come back and fight next year. He wants to do it. He’s had a very busy year this year. He’s obviously not had a fight this year, but as we’ve all seen, he’s had his documentary.

“He’s been filming with Netflix for his At Home with the Furys series. He’s also got another documentary that he’s finishing off, plus other things. I mean, he’s told me categorically he wants to fight next year. So, we’ll sit down and see.”

Fury will likely want to rebuild with a couple of wins and has said he would welcome a trilogy with Usyk, but the Joshua fight is the one the world really wants to see.
