Tyson Fury could be on the verge of announcing when he might to return to the ring.
The former world heavyweight champion retired last January following his second consecutive loss to Oleksandr Usyk. The first came in May 2024 and saw him lose his world title, and the second in December was a repeat with the Ukrainian great just too good.
Despite being retired, there have been plenty of hopes that Fury might change his mind and return to the sport for one big final showdown with long-time rival and fellow former champion Anthony Joshua.
He has been seen back in training recently, but before taking a big test like ‘AJ’, he will need to shake off some ring rust.
Early rumours say that Arslanbek Makhmudov could be the man put in front of Fury, with Gareth A Davies first to report that the Russian is indeed an option.
Makhmudov has been stopped by Agit Kabayel and had a tough time against popular British heavyweight Dave Allen when they fought at the Sheffield Arena back in October, but he ultimately got the job done and took a unanimous points win.
As such, he would be a durable opponent for Fury, who will have had well over a year out of the ring by the time he returns to action. Responding to the potential fight, Allen has warned ‘The Gypsy King’ that Makhmudov – also known as ‘The Lion’ – is not to be taken lightly.
