Tyson Fury’s manager has given his immediate reaction to Anthony Joshua‘s dramatic victory over Kristian Prenga.
The long-awaited mega fight between Joshua and Tyson Fury looked for a moment as if it would not be happening as Joshua fell to the canvas in the opening round of his latest comeback fight against Prenga this past weekend.
The Albanian shocked the world when he twice had ‘AJ’ down within the first three minutes of their fight in Saudi Arabia, but was unable to capitalise on his success.
After returning to his corner at the sound of the first bell, Joshua came back out for the second with more intent, closed Prenga down and stopped him with a lethal combination before the end of the round.
There was huge relief all round for those keen to see former world champions Fury and Joshua finally settle their differences in the ring.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Fury’s manager Spencer Brown revealed how he felt watching the fight.
“I was in shock. I was in a lot of shock, Eddie’s coming out with, “it’s heart” and this that and the other, what until he gets in with big Tyson Fury. He’s a different beast.
“That performance from [Fury against Mariusz Wach the night before], was an easy performance yesterday. [In the first round tonight] I thought we’d lost the fight. The dream was over. Thank God he got up and he did what he did.”
All attention will now turn to the fight between these two British giants. The date and venue is yet to be announced, though it is likely to take place in November.
Turki Alalshikh, who is promoting the fight, has said he wants it to happen at a time that suits audiences around the world. For that to happen at Wembley, he would need a later-than-usual start time, which has not yet been applied for.
