Tyson Fury could head straight into a world title fight upon his ring return if he so wishes.
Fury has not fought for well over a year now. The last time he was in the ring was against Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, when he was soundly beaten on points across 12 rounds, just a few months after losing to the same man in their undisputed clash earlier in the year.
Fury will be 38 later this year and has had many hard fights, long camps and battles with several issues outside of the ring, so this will surely be his final run at the top.
Speaking to iFL TV, the current WBO champion Fabio Wardley was quite explicit in his desire to fight ‘The Gypsy King’ sooner rather than later.
“If he wants it, I’m in. For me, if that fight isn’t my next fight, it’s not because of me. If you want it, it’s there, if you don’t and he’d like a little warm-up or whatever else he wants to do, fine. Do whatever you need to do.
“I don’t think at his age, how long he’s been in the game, him prancing around with someone to knock them over after 10 rounds is going to do him many favours, but fine. I’ll change my sights and look for something else.”
Wardley is one of the division’s form men, having stopped both Justis Huni and Joseph Parker in 2025 only to then be elevated to full champion when Usyk vacated rather than defended his belt.
