Tyson Fury Didn’t Hesitate When Naming The One Heavyweight From Any Era He Would Want To Fight

Tyson Fury has just about accomplished everything possible in heavyweight boxing.

‘The Gypsy King’ is a fan favourite who is as entertaining out of the ring as he is inside it. On his way up he collected every title from the British to the European via the Commonwealth.

He won his first world titles in 2015 when he out-pointed the then-long-reining champion Wladimir Klitschko in Germany. It was a historic night that was named Upset of the Year and earned him the Fighter of the Year accolade by The Ring.

Following that victory, he suffered a bout of depression and was out of the ring for the best part of three years. After victory in two low-key warm-up fights, he took on the fearsome American puncher Deontay Wilder who had knocked out every man he had faced. Fury came away with a controversial draw and then won the next two fights in impressive fashion via knockout.

In May, he challenged Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed title but lost on points after a close 12 rounds.

Speaking to TNT Sport Boxing, he was asked who he would fight from any era if he had the chance and he opted for a second fight with his old foe ‘Dr Steelhammer.’

“I’d go back in time to rematch Wladimir Klitschko, to give him another arse-kicking.”

Alongside his brother Vitali, Klitschko ruled the heavyweight division between 2004 and 2015. He is widely regarded as not just one of the most dominant champions, but one of the best heavyweights ever.

In a strange turn of events, Fury may just get his wish. Klitschko has teased a comeback in the past but appears to be seriously considering it this year. He has been linked with IBF Champion Daniel Dubois. Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has also made it clear he wants to see the Fury rematch if the Brit can beat another Ukrainian in Usyk this month.
