Tyson Fury has shared 24 rounds with Oleksandr Usyk and has now spoken about the Ukrainian’s power ahead of his rematch with Daniel Dubois.
Usyk and Dubois first fought in August 2023. Usyk was fresh off becoming a unified champion, having twice beaten Anthony Joshua over 24 rounds.
He was stunned in the fifth round when he was sent to the canvas from an attempted body shot by ‘DDD’, though it was controversially ruled low and Usyk was given the time he needed to recover. Which he did and eventually stopped Dubois in the 9th round.
He then went on to twice beat Tyson Fury to become the undisputed ruler in 2024. Speaking on TikTok and despite his losses, ‘The Gypsy King’ suggested that Usyk doesn’t pack a particularly big punch, claiming he has ‘no power’.
“I know he’s got no power, because if he has a man out cold on his feet, then hits him with another 10 free shots and doesn’t even drop the motherf**ker, how’s he going he hurt me? He’s had his shots, I took his best shots and smiled. Like Tupac said, now he’s about to feel the wrath of a menace.”
Although he may not be the most powerful heavyweight of all time, few would argue that Usyk isn’t one of the best. He has outsmarted every man he has faced, has never legitimately been down in the ring and is yet to lose in the professional ring.
The fight against Dubois presents him with the chance to become the first man ever to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight ruler in the four-belt era, which would surely assure his legacy forever.
