Tyson Fury Sets His Sights On One Man As Comeback Confirmed

Tyson Fury looks more and more likely to return to the ring in 2026.

Fury announced an abrupt retirement from the sport back in January, ending any immediate plans for an all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua, something that boxing fans have been keen to see for a number of years.

In recent months, ‘The Gypsy King’ has appeared to suggest that he will make a comeback in 2026, reigniting potential hope for a fight with Joshua.

It seems that Fury is targeting someone else rather than Joshua though, after his promoter Frank Warren told Sky Sports that what his man really wants is another bout with current undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

“He’s indicated to me that he does want to carry on. There’s a lot of talk about Joshua, there’s talk about Joshua having a tune up so there’s no way he’ll sit around waiting, but the fight he really wants is another go with Usyk.

“He hasn’t got a lot of miles on the clock, he’s nobody’s fool, he’s a very smart guy, he knows better than you and me what he’s got left and what he can do. He doesn’t need to fight, I’m sure his family don’t want him to fight, but he’s a fighting man and if he decides to move forward and do it, he’ll do it.”

Fury met Usyk twice in 2024, losing them both on points, the only two times that the Brit has suffered defeats in his professional career.

Usyk’s last bout came in July when he defeated Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium, and while Fury may crave another battle with the Ukrainian, there are other heavyweights waiting in the wings for their shot, including Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel.
