Tyson Fury has tasted the power of Oleksandr Usyk inside the boxing ring and will do so again in under two weeks times.
Fury is a fighter who has often been put down in some of his bigger fights, but has never failed to get up. Most famously, there were multiple knockdowns to both men across his epic trilogy with powerful American puncher Deontay Wilder from 2018.
In the first fight in particular, Fury showed incredible powers of recovery to rise from two huge shots in the last moments of the 12th and final round and go on to push his man back and earn a controversial draw.
Fury was also put down against former MMA champion tuned boxing novice Francis Ngannou last October, and in May when he fought Usyk he was sent spinning back towards the ropes and given a standing eight count, although he never hit the deck.
After losing a points decision in that epic undisputed showdown, Fury has since vowed to be more focused next time around and regain his titles.
Ahead of that he has spoken to Queensberry Promotions about the power of the Ukrainian and very much played it down saying he had ‘no power’.
“I know he’s got no power, because if he has a man out cold on his feet then hits him with another 10 free shots and doesn’t even drop the mother f**ker, how’s he going he hurt me? He’s had his shots, I took his best shots and smiled. Like Tupac said, now he’s about to feel the wrath of a menace.”
