Tyson Fury Pleads With Former Heavyweight Champion To Now Retire: “I Know It’s Hard To Hear”

Tyson Fury has been urging one of his heavyweight peers to hang up their gloves.

Fury has been retired himself since January of this year. He announced he was leaving the sport after his second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. The first one in May saw the Ukrainian become the undisputed heavyweight champion, six years after doing the same in the cruiserweight division.

The second contest in December was a repeat that left Fury frustrated at being unable to solve the puzzles the generational great has presented for every man he has faced so far, though he has said he wants one more go at it.

While many fans hope Fury comes back for a final showdown with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua, the man himself has been urging his old for Deontay Wilder to hang up his gloves, despite a KO win in his comeback fight in June, which was his first for a year.

“I didn’t see the full fight cause it was on at ridiculous hours in the morning, but I did see a clip on Instagram. I think IFL put a video out and I said please stop this man from his self. He’s a shadow of his former glory. I know it’s hard to hear that, but at 40 years old, the three fights with me done him. Completely ended his career. I know everyone’s got his own reasons and everyone’s entitled to do what they want, but it’s sad to see really.”

Since the win, which was Wilder’s first in his last three fights, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ has spoken about taking his time and rebuilding properly. He has every intent of carrying on and working towards a world title shot as he attempts to become a two-time heavyweight champion.
