Tyson Fury is regarded by many as being one of the best heavyweights of the last ten years and has a keen eye for talent in the division.
Fury is a former two-time world heavyweight champion, having first claimed world honours when he travelled to Germany in 2015 to dethrone unified king Wladimir Klitschko and win the WBA, WBO and IBF titles.
A several year hiatus followed after the ‘Gypsy King’ dealt with a number of issues outside the ring, but he returned and became champion again when he stopped Deontay Wilder in February 2020 to take his WBC belt.
Fury lost his title in May 2024 when he was beaten by Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed heavyweight clash, and he went on to announce his retirement after also losing the rematch to Usyk in December of that year.
While many fans hope to see Fury back, it is another man that he is most interested in seeing return to the ring, after deeming him as the “most talented heavyweight in the world.’
Speaking on the Pound 4 Pound Podcast, the man Fury was referring to was American prospect Jared Anderson.
“I’d also like to see Jared Anderson back in the mix, the ‘young big baby’. Now, for me he’s the most talented heavyweight in the world by far, but coming off his last fight he had a knockout loss, so talent sometimes just doesn’t cut it if you’re rushed into fights that you’re not ready for.”
Anderson was viewed as being one of the best prospects in the sport after compiling a record of 17-0, but suffered a knockout defeat to Martin Bakole in August 2024 to stop his momentum.
He returned in February with a lacklustre points win against Marios Kollias, and had been linked to a clash with Jarrell Miller next month, but Miller recently revealed Anderson has turned the fight down, leading many to believe that his motivation is not there. It has been reported that Miller will instead face Michael Hunter.
