The heavyweight division is ready for a new set of stars to emerge.
With unified champion Oleksandr Usyk announcing he has just two fights left in the sport, superstar Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn stating that his charge has about the same and Tyson Fury already in retirement as of January, boxing’s banner division is in for a changing of the guard.
Current IBF World Champion Daniel Dubois is leading the charge at 27-years-old, followed by the likes of Agit Kabayel and Joseph Parker who have years to go. Then comes the likes of youngster Moses Itauma, who is doing everything right as he is built up by Queensberry and Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren.
Across the promotional divide, Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom have a future star of their own in Teremoana Teremoana, the 6 ft 6 in Campbelltown native who won Gold at the Pacific Games 2023 before being put out in the quarter finals of the 2024 Olympics by Uzbekistanās Bakhodir Jalolov, who would win Gold.
Teremoana – who has Pacific Island heritage – had already built up a record of 4-0 with four stoppages before signing with Hearn and has scored two more knockouts under the Brit’s guidance.
This weekend in Sydney he progressed to 7-0 with a first round stoppage over 12-5 James Singh, entirely ignoring defence and dropping the Fiji-born heavyweight before unleashing a barrage that forced the referee to step in and stop the action.

Post-fight, Hearn said:
“The guy’s got it all. Not only is he a future world heavyweight champion, he’s one with charisma. I’m a little bit disappointed with the opponent if I’m honest. I thought the referee jumped in a little bit too early.
“We were hoping Singh might give him some rounds. It’s so difficult to get quality heavyweights in this part of the world. Any Australian heavyweight with any kind of ambition is not fighting Teremoana anytime soon, so you’re relying on bringing people in and we’ve got to get better than James Singh.”
Teremoana said he wants the Australian Heavyweight Title soon as he continues his rise.
