Ryan Garcia has fought both Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney during his career.
Garcia and Davis met back in April 2023 in a 136lb catchweight bout, with ‘Tank’ dropping his rival twice on his way to a comfortable seventh round knockout win.
‘King Ry’ then took on Haney 12 months later in April 2023, and this time it was him that came out on top, dropping Haney multiple times to secure a points victory, though the result was later changed to a no contest due to Garcia failing a drugs test.
Garcia was asked to compare how it felt being hit by both Haney and ‘Tank’ and surprisingly praised Haney over the knockout artist from Baltimore.
“Haney caught me, Gervonta I didn’t really [feel anything]. It wasn’t a hard fight I was just weak.”
There was a 10-pound rehydration clause in the fight between Garcia and Davis, something that ‘King Ry’ feels greatly depleted him in the bout, claiming if he was to meet ‘Tank’ at his more natural weight he would claim a comfortable win.
“It’s not a hard fight for me. You guys can pull up the picture of me how I looked for Tank and how I looked for Haney. I would beat Gervonta Davis worse than I beat Devin Haney.
“Haney is a harder fight than Gervonta. Gervonta would never fight me at 145 so it doesn’t really matter.”
A rematch between Garcia and Davis isn’t expected in the near future, with ‘King Ry’ instead set to have a second meeting with Haney, provided they both come through bouts on the same card in May.
