Ryan Garcia has made an important decision about a potential showdown with Jake Paul.

‘King Ry’ was revealed as one of the fighters that the YouTuber-turned-boxer had shortlisted after his controversial exhibition with Gervonta Davis was cancelled last week.

Garcia has been out of action since suffering the second defeat of his career to Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero at Times Square in New York back in May, falling short in his attempt at becoming the WBA Regular world welterweight champion.

The 27-year-old from California has now announced that he is officially out of the running to face ‘The Problem Child’ next, with reports suggesting that he is now set to return to the ring in the first quarter of 2026.

As revealed in a social media post, Garcia explained that it ‘wasn’t his fault’ that a clash with Paul could not be made, as he says he has been in preparations for a comeback to the sport ‘for a while’.

“It is not my fault that I couldn’t fight Jake Paul, I would’ve ran that with him and then have a real fight in February. I’ve been preparing my self for a while now”

“All good though those who got bad intentions never win in the end”

Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya – who he has had a fractured relationship with – recently explained that the fight would not happen as his company, Golden Boy, matches the fighter and pointed out that their exclusive broadcast agreement with DAZN would also prevent it happening.

‘King Ry’ has been recovering from an injury that he sustained to his hand prior to his bout with Romero. The 27-year-old appears to be the front runner to face reigning WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios next, as revealed by De La Hoya.
