Ryan Garcia Didn’t Hesitate To Name The Best Boxer Of This Century

Former WBC interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia has revealed who he believes ranks as the greatest fighter of this century.

The 27-year-old from California is set to make his return to the ring in the first quarter of 2026, with reports suggesting that he is in line to challenge WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios next.

Garcia has been out of action since he suffered a shock defeat to countryman Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero at Times Square in New York City on May 2, falling short in his attempt at claiming the WBA Regular welterweight crown.

Speaking on the Inside The Ring Show, Garcia spoke fondly of former pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather who he claims is arguably the ‘greatest of all time’.

“When you look at it from the eye test, boxing knowledge as a boxer, you’ve got to go with Floyd. Floyd has everything. Inside, outside. Can get rugged, can dig deep. He has a long range of what’s in his bag, you know what I mean?”

Mayweather remains one of the few great champions in boxing history to retire from the sport without suffering a single defeat.

The Michigan-native captured multiple world titles across five weight classes throughout the course of his tenure, producing a number of legacy-defining wins over the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao.

‘Money’ called time on his glittering professional boxing career back in 2017, just months after he stopped MMA fighter Conor McGregor in the 10th round of their monumental crossover showdown in Las Vegas.
