Ryan Garcia has mapped out his future plans.
He was last in action in April 2024 when he took on Devin Haney, with the build-up marred by concerns over the behaviour of Garcia, leading to him missing weight and being ineligible to win the WBC super-lightweight title.
‘King Ry’ shocked the world with his performance though, dropping Haney multiple times on his way to a points victory, but the controversy didn’t stop there.
Garcia failed a drugs test following the bout, meaning the result was changed to a no-contest and he was handed a one-year suspension.
He is now set to return in May when he takes on Rolly Romero, and he has already revealed to Ring Champs With Ak & Barak who he wants in the future provided he is victorious.
“Teofimo Lopez, Boots Ennis.”
Lopez and Ennis have themselves been linked to a fight with one another, with Lopez first defending his WBO super-lightweight title against Arnold Barboza on the same card as Garcia’s return, while IBF welterweight champion Ennis takes on WBA champion Eimantas Stanionis in a unification bout next month.
Haney returns on the same bill as Garcia and Lopez too when he faces Jose Ramirez, and ‘King Ry’ also acknowledged that his second bout with Haney must come next.
“I’ll beat him again. That’s why I did it so easily. We’ll fight again. I ain’t going to lose. This is something that Turki wanted so it’s no problem.”
The rematch against Haney and Garcia is likely to be at 147lbs, and former welterweight champion Shawn Porter has made his prediction.
