Ryan Garcia Has No Doubt Who Has The Better Legacy Between Floyd Mayweather And Manny Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao shared the ring in a monumental showdown back in 2015.

The former pound-for-pound superstars finally locked horns at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas just over a decade ago, doing battle for the unified WBA, WBA and WBO welterweight titles.

Despite the massive hype surrounding their much anticipated clash, the fight itself seemingly failed to live up to the expectations that had been set prior, as Mayweather defeated the Filipino great via unanimous decision in what was an underwhelming 12-round contest.

Both Mayweather and Pacquiao proved themselves to be two of the greatest fighters to have ever laced up the gloves during their respective professional careers, winning an abundance of world titles in multiple weight classes along the way.

One man that hopes to follow in their footsteps by becoming world champion is Ryan Garcia, who has actually been linked to a shock fight against a now 46-year-old Pacquiao, but in the meantime he has been debating which of the two legends has a better legacy.

Speaking to DAZN Boxing, Garcia revealed that he ‘will always’ rank Pacquiao above Mayweather, as he claims the eight-division world champion ‘dominated’ the sport during his peak whilst going through a number of weight classes.

“I agree with you on that, I mean I’ve always had Manny Pacquiao above Floyd pound-for-pound and just in the history of boxing.

“You never heard of a guy that can go from those weight classes and still dominate, knocking out Cotto, knocking out Ricky Hatton with one shot, destroying Oscar De La Hoya, he made him look like he was nothing.

“I mean for me Manny Pacquiao’s always gonna have that and I was always a huge fan of him growing up so yeah for me he takes the cake.”

‘PacMan’ made a shock return to the ring back in July, returning from a four year hiatus to fight to a draw against reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.

As for Mayweather, the five-division champion has not fought as a professional in just over eight years, announcing his retirement from the sport just a few months after he defeated MMA fighter Conor McGregor in their huge crossover clash.
