Ryan Garcia has weighed in on the upcoming clash between former rival Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul.

It was announced last week that reigning WBA lightweight champion ‘Tank’ Davis would face ‘The Problem Child’ on Friday November 14 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

Davis had been expected to head into an immediate rematch with Lamont Roach after their controversial first meeting in March ended in a majority decision draw, but instead he has opted to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul later this year.

One fighter that has shared the ring with ‘Tank’ in recent years is former WBC interim lightweight champion Garcia, who suffered a seventh round stoppage defeat when he locked horns with the three-weight world champion back in April of 2023.

Speaking on social media, ‘King Ry’ expressed his concerns at his former rival stepping into the ring with a man who is significantly taller and heavier than him, saying he won’t be able to put a dent in the social media star.

“Gervonta is 5’4” and last weighed in at 133, you’d be crazy to think he can do anything to Jake.”

Paul made his most recent ring appearance back in June when he defeated Mexico’s former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their ten round cruiserweight bout at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

‘The Problem Child’ weighed in at 198.5lbs ahead of his showdown with Chavez, over 60 pounds heavier than what ‘Tank’ weighed in at when he faced Lamont Roach back in March, prompting concerns that this could be a step too far for the 30-year-old from Baltimore.
