Highly-rated coach Robert Garcia has shared his thoughts on a potential rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
It has been reported this week that five-weight world champion Mayweather could be set for a sensational return to the sport next year which could come against Filipino superstar and former rival Pacquiao.
Mayweather and Pacquiao clashed back in 2015 in what was described as the ‘Fight Of The Century’, although the monumental showdown failed to live up to expectations despite the hype that had surrounded it.
After an underwhelming 12 rounds, Mayweather defeated ‘PacMan’ via unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight titles at a packed-out MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Speaking to ESNEWS, top trainer Garcia claimed that a rematch between the legendary duo would be ‘huge’, before giving his backing to Mayweather to get the job done over Pacquiao once again.
“That would be huge … I think Floyd. Floyd’s too smart man, too good. Floyd is very healthy, he told us 6-8 years ago that his body wasn’t that strong but you know, he’s still talented, the little that he’s got left I think is enough to beat Pacquiao and a lot of young guys.”
‘Money’ Mayweather announced his retirement from the professional side of the sport back in 2017, although the 48-year-old from Michigan has participated in a number of exhibition contests since then, facing the likes of Logan Paul and Aaron Chalmers.
As for Pacquiao, the eight-division world champion made a sensational return to the ring back in July after a four-year hiatus, fighting to a majority decision draw against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
