Ryan Garcia once sent a scathing message out to Jake Paul and now he has reportedly been offered the chance to face the YouTuber-turned-fighter in the coming weeks.
Paul had been pencilled in to face reigning WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in Miami on November 14, but their controversial exhibition clash is now in jeopardy due to ‘Tank’ facing a new civil lawsuit over domestic allegations.
It was then revealed that former WBC interim lightweight champion Garcia, who was defeated by ‘Tank’ Davis back in April of 2023, was one of the names considered to step in and face Paul instead.
Garcia has been out of action since he suffered the second defeat of his professional career to newly-crowned WBA welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero in New York City back in May.
Previously speaking on The Cigar Talk Podcast, ‘King Ry’ brandished Paul as a ‘disgrace’, as he criticises the former YouTube star for opting to face opponents who are considerably lighter than him.
“It pi**ed me the f**k off. It’s just disappointing on mainly Jake’s end. We’re not falling for the Disney Channel bit no more, we’re not falling for ‘you’re not a fighter’ no more, we’re not falling for that.
“You’re ranked as a cruiserweight and you’re out here trying to fight at lightweight? And on top of it you were just talking about fighting Anthony Joshua, that doesn’t make no sense and I just felt like it was a disgrace to boxing and it was not a good move by Jake Paul.”
Despite the past comments from Garcia, it seems that he won’t be the one taking on Paul next, after it emerged that a deal is close to being agreed for him to take on WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios next.
