Ryan Garcia has revealed he wants a rematch against Gervonta Davis.

The 26-year-old suffered the first defeat of his career at the hands of ‘Tank’ in April 2023, becoming the 27th fighter to be knocked out by the reigning WBA lightweight champion since he made his debut 12 years ago.

Davis has treated his fans to an array of highlight reel knockouts throughout his tenure, beating all but two of his opponents inside the scheduled distance.

He got ‘King Ry’ out of there in the seventh round of their showdown two years ago, although Garcia looked noticeably weight drained at 136lbs and a strict rehydration clause was put in place.

Davis has made it clear he wants a rematch and when speaking on Ring Champs with AK & Barak, Garcia agreed to run it back but stated that the only way it can happen is if ‘Tank’ makes the decision to move up to 147lbs, having spent the majority of his career campaigning between 130 and 135lbs.

“I know I can do way better and I know I can beat him. This is boxing bro, this is what we gotta do [go up weight divisions]. You know Roberto Duran went up like 8, 9 or I don’t know how many weight classes.

“But we could do it, like I feel like we could do it, I feel like all of us could do it, we all got the skills we all could beat these guys. A lot of the guys in the bigger division ain’t even that good in my opinion.”

Garcia returns to the ring on May 2 when he faces Rolly Romero in New York, following the completion of a suspension he is currently serving after he failed a substance test in the lead-up to his bout against Devin Haney last April.

Davis fought to a majority decision draw against Lamont Roach Jr earlier this month, and is expected to face Roach in a rematch this summer after putting on an underwhelming performance that has been criticised by many fans and pundits within the boxing community.
