George Foreman Names The Only Fighter He Would Avoid: “He’s A Monster”

George Foreman is an all-time heavyweight legend who was involved in some of the most famous fights of the modern era.

Texas-born ‘Big George’ rose to prominence in the 1970s and his ferocious power soon saw him becoming the world heavyweight champion by defeating Joe Frazier in 1973. After losing the title to Muhammad Ali a year later in the iconic Rumble in the Jungle, Foreman fought on for three years before retiring in 1977 but made a historic comeback in the 1990s.

In 1994, at the age of 45, he regained the title by defeating Michael Moorer and in doing so became the oldest world heavyweight champion in boxing history.

One man he never faced was Mike Tyson and in a video shared by MMA READ he explained why he had no desire to take him on.

“Mike Tyson was a monster. He was a monster. Those are the kind of guys you see in a nightmare and think ‘wake up, wake up, wake up,’ and you wake up and say, phew, I’m so glad that was in a dream. I didn’t want any part of Mike Tyson, no way.”

Foreman then spoke of Tyson’s best attributes.

“I really admired Mike Tyson. He wasn’t that tall and that big but he could hit you quick, real quick, and his footwork was outstanding. In his prime, there was nothing like him. If he had fought for another four years winning, I’d have put him number two to Joe Lewis. I love him because he’s strictly positive. He’s got nothing to say negative about anything, he’s having fun with life and that’s what it’s really about anyway.”

Tyson will hope to carry some of that legendary power into his controversial fight with 28-year-old 11-1 professional Jake Paul in November.
