George Foreman Names The Best Heavyweight Of All Time: “There Is No Doubt About It”

The undisputed heavyweight title has been held by a select few men in the sport of boxing, but George Foreman thinks one man is out on his own as the best ever.

Foreman himself is up there with some of the best to have ever done it having been a two-time world heavyweight champion and also holding the honour of being the oldest to ever win the world heavyweight title when he beat Michael Moorer at the age of 45.

However, after one historic night in June 2008, he named Lennox Lewis as the best ever. That was the night that Lewis defeated Mike Tyson in impressive fashion to defend his unified WBC, IBF, IBO, and The Ring Magazine titles.

‘The Pugilist Specialist’ was patient and never allowed Tyson to get off. Tyson was made to look slow and old and in the final round alone Lewis landed 15 of 19 power shots to bring about an end to the contest.

In comments made in the immediate aftermath of the fight, Foreman can be heard lavishing praise on Lewis in coverage shared by SportTV.

“There is nobody in the world who can take that from Lewis. He is no doubt the best heavyweight of all time.

Clearly, what he has done puts him on top. There is no doubt about it, he did everything.”

Quite how Lewis would compare with the current crop of heavyweights will always make for heated debate. However, one former legend Larry Holmes recently admitted he was not impressed by any of them, and claimed “there has never been a champion” like him.
