George Foreman Brands Heavyweight A ‘Phenomenon’: “Where In The World Did He Come From”

Boxing legend George Foreman has shared the ring with some of the biggest names in history.

After winning an Olympic gold medal in 1968, Foreman turned professional and had amassed a record of 37-0 when at the age of 24 he challenged Joe Frazier for his world heavyweight titles.

‘Big George’ won via second round knockout to hand Frazier his first defeat and win the WBA and WBC heavyweight titles in the process.

Foreman’s next legendary fight came in 1974, when he took on Muhammad Ali in ‘The Rumble In The Jungle.’ Ali upset the odds to earn an eighth round knockout win and secure the world titles from Foreman.

After taking a decade away from the sport, Foreman returned in the late 80s, and went on to challenge Evander Holyfield for his world heavyweight titles, but it was a losing effort after Holyfield won by unanimous decision.

‘Big George’ did manage to become world champion again though, stopping Michael Moorer in the tenth round, which led to Foreman becoming the oldest world heavyweight champion in history at 46 years and 169 days old.

While he may have shared the ring with those greats, it is another fighter that Foreman has dubbed a ‘phenomenon’ – after ‘Big George’ was asked by DAZN to pick a winner between Frazier and Mike Tyson.

“Mike Tyson, a phenomenon. Joe Frazier is a tough guy, but Mike Tyson. Where in the world did he come from?”

Tyson became the youngest world heavyweight champion in history at the age of 20 years, 4 months, and 22 days, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.

He recently returned to the ring for a controversial bout with Jake Paul, losing it on points, and ‘Iron Mike’ needed just one word to sum up the boxing ability of Paul.
