Gervonta Davis ‘Turned Down $15m’ To Face Undefeated Rival: “Then He Goes And Fights Lamont Roach”

Gervonta Davis has been accused of turning down a monumental offer to face an undefeated rival.

The 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland has enjoyed a successful ascent to the pinnacle of the lightweight division over the last few years, where he currently holds the WBA lightweight title.

‘Tank’ is gearing up for his return to the ring on March 1 when he makes a defence of his WBA crown against countryman Lamont Roach Jr at the Barclays Center in New York City, in what will be the 31st outing of the 30-year-old’s tenure.

Despite his focus now on the task at hand against Roach, the undefeated lightweight star has reportedly turned down an offer in excess of $15m to fight Conor Benn.

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Benn revealed details of the huge offer that had been sent to Davis’ team, claiming ‘Tank’ had backtracked on his interest in facing the British star.

“Don’t come at me and go ‘oh yeah let’s give it all Barry big b******s and go oh yeah let’s give him some stick’ and then make out like we want the fight’, and then we send an offer over for $15m and then you fight Lamont Roach, don’t do all that do you know what I mean.

It was a real offer. Initial offer, but his boss didn’t let him out to play. $15m, first offer.”

With a fight against Davis now on the back-burner for ‘The Destroyer’, the 28-year-old is now preparing to face fierce rival Chris Eubank Jr on April 26 in London, reigniting a feud between their respective families which dates back over 30-years after their fathers fought twice in the early 90’s.
