Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev is upon us.
The highly-anticipated light heavyweight showdown takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this weekend, and will crown the first undisputed champion at 175lbs since Roy Jones Jr was last to achieve it over two decades ago.
Bivol has arguably the highest profile win of either men heading into the bout, having defeated Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision back in May 2022.
Beterbiev has the accolade of all 20 of his wins coming by knockout though, including stoppages over Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Callum Smith and Joe Smith Jr.
The boxing world has been split on who they believe will come out on top in the fight, with some opting for the brutal power of Beterbiev while others side with the slick skills of Bivol.
Gervonta Davis‘ trainer Calvin Ford has now made his feelings known ahead of the battle whilst talking to Fighthype, and he is leaning towards Bivol.
“Oh that’s going to be a good one, I can’t wait. We’re going with Bivol because he’s sound, he’s solid. I think he can pull it off but it’s going to be an exciting fight.”
While most onlookers believe a Bivol win would have to be by decision, Ford thinks he’s just as capable of winning by knockout.
“Somebody is going to sleep in that fight. I know so. Both of them can crack.”
