Gervonta Davis is one the biggest stars in boxing today, but insists he isn’t trying to be around the sport much longer and that, when he retires, you ‘won’t see him again’.

Davis is arguably the hottest property in boxing right now. Coming off a career best victory over Ryan Garcia last April – a win that looks even more impressive after ‘King Ryan’s recent performance against Devin Haney.

Personal problems have seen him out of the ring since that night but ‘Tank’ returns to action next month against Frank ‘The Ghost’ Martin.

In the build up to the fight Davis and Martin sat down on Million Dollaz Worth Of Game and ‘Tank’ admitted his main aim is to make as much money so he can get away from boxing and out of the spotlight.

“I’m trying to earn so much I can get away from this s**t. I’ll have a house on an island and you won’t see me again.

I’m not trying to be around this much longer. I don’t want the spotlight, you all can have it.”

The 29-year-old Baltimore native has plenty of opportunities for more big money nights, with potential fights against Shakur Stevenson, Devin Haney, Vasiliy Lomachenko and a rematch with Garcia all possible within the next few years.

Davis vs Martin takes place on June 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Amazon Prime PPV. The lightweight title fight headlines a stellar card which also features David Benavidez making his light-heavyweight debut against former champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
