Gervonta Davis has given an honest assessment of the boxing ability of future opponent Jake Paul.
The three-weight world champion is set to face Paul in a ten round exhibition contest on Friday November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, the latest high-profile clash to be shown live on Netflix around the world.
Their controversial match-up has received criticism from fans and analysts around the world, with many expressing their frustration at Davis being allowed to share the ring with a man who is significantly bigger than him.
It was revealed earlier this week that the bout would have a maximum weight limit of 195lbs in place for both fighters, and there will be three judges in charge of scoring it at ringside, despite it being dubbed as an exhibition clash rather than a sanctioned professional bout.
In a social media clip, ‘Tank’ Davis jokingly took to YouTube to examine the boxing ability of ‘The Problem Child’ ahead of their bout, before summing up what sort of fighter he thinks his countryman is – ‘decent’.
“I gotta see how you fighting … He’s decent.”
Fans had been hopeful that Davis would go on to face Lamont Roach Jr in a rematch after their controversial first encounter back in March ended in a majority decision draw, but these plans were shelved after a period of failed negotiations.
Instead, the 30-year-old from Baltimore will step foot into unfamiliar territory against a man who is eight inches taller than him and weighed in at 60 pounds heavier than him ahead of his June bout with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
