Gervonta Davis Sums Up Shakur Stevenson’s Chances Of Beating Him In Just 2 Words

Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson are two of the best 135lb fighters on the planet.

Davis is the current WBA lightweight champion, having most recently defended his belt with a knockout win against previously unbeaten Frank Martin back in June.

He is expected to return to the ring in March to make the next defence of his belt against Lamont Roach, after the bout was pushed back from its original date of December.

Stevenson holds the WBC lightweight title, and is currently recovering from injury after he required hand surgery, forcing him out of a planned fight with Joe Cordina in October.

Upon his return, Stevenson is expected to defend his belt against mandatory challenger William Zepeda, who beat Tevin Farmer to win the WBC interim strap last weekend.

A fight between ‘Tank’ and Stevenson has been rumoured for a number of years, but is yet to materialise, with boxing fans hoping it could come in 2025.

Davis has been discussing the potential match-up with Cigar Talk Show, and needed just two words to respond when asked if Stevenson would be his toughest test.

“Hell no.”

‘Tank’ then explained why he was so confident with that assessment.

“Show me something he did outrageous. His power is not outrageous, what defence? You never see him slip no punch. You see him back up and move around. He doesn’t have any technique. His offense is the same thing. Go look at his fights.”

Mandatory challenger William Zepeda has also given his take on who he thinks would win between Davis and Stevenson.
