Gervonta Davis is set to defend his WBA Lightweight World Title for a second time in early 2025. Following that, there are plenty of contenders waiting in line.

The knockout artist from Baltimore has fought just once this year, an emphatic stoppage of previously undefeated southpaw Frank Martin. ‘Tank’ was then set to face super-featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr in December but plans have been put on hold with January now the target.

Fans want to see Davis active after just two fights in two years, and one man who is staking his claim to be in the opposite corner is Keyshawn Davis.

‘The Businessman’ is fresh off a homecoming fight in Norfolk, Virginia where he dispatched of Argentina’s Gustavo Lemos in just two rounds. The win was all the more impressive given Lemos had an unfair advantage after coming in 6 pounds over the 135 limit.

It was no issue for Keyshawn, who dropped his man in the second round, sending him tumbling into the ropes on his first attempt to beat the count. Lemos managed to fight on but Davis, after dancing in his corner, finished the job with a left hook followed by right uppercut.

Post-fight, Davis – who was the second man to beat Lemos and the first to stop him – called out ‘Tank.’

“The world title definitely gonna be next. In 2025 we got big, big plans for everybody in the boxing world. Hey, Gervonta? Knock, knock.”

If a unification with WBC Champion Shakur Stevenson can’t be made, ‘Tank’ Davis couldn’t go wrong in the eyes of fans for facing Keyshawn, who proved this weekend he is more than deserving of his shot at the throne.
